Yankee Chapter Members,

There is exciting news coming from the National Board of Directors, ASMC will be rebranding – including getting a new name!

Founded as the Society of Military Accountants and Statisticians in 1948, the name was first changed in 1955 to the American Society of Military Comptrollers.

Now, we have a unique opportunity to be a part of ASMC history as the board plans to unveil the society’s new name and logo at this year’s PDI in Phoenix, Arizona, May 29-31, 2024!

Be on the lookout for the March 1st registration and we hope to see you there!

For any Yankee Chapter members interested in obtaining your CDFM or CDFM-A certifications, we have copies of the Enhanced Defense Financial Management Training Course (v2020 – Modules 1-3) available to check out for free as a benefit of your membership!

This book is indispensable in preparing for your CDFM certification. If you are interested, they will be available for check out every Wednesday in Hanscom AFB bldg. 1624.

Please also note, ASMC HQ recently announced that the updated/revamped CDFM and CDFM-A exams are scheduled to launch on May 29, 2024. For more information, please visit the 2024 Exam Update page.

Hopefully many of you are planning to attend ASMC Professional Development Institute (PDI) 2024! As a reminder, early bird registration discounts (for both virtual and in-person attendance) end on April 30th!

PDI 2024 will once again be a hybrid event, with opportunities to attend in-person or virtually.  The conference will take place May 29-31, 2024 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ and on ASMC’s Virtual Platform.  Pre-conference CDFM educational sessions will be offered May 27-28 for those interested.  Then, PDI officially begins on May 29 with Community Day (seminars specific to your DoD service; formerly called “Service Day”), followed by general sessions, workshops, and mini-courses on May 30-31.   Please note there is a 3-hour time difference for East Coast virtual attendees.

PDI is ASMC’s premier training event for all comptroller career fields.  The Yankee Chapter encourages participation to the maximum extent allowed by your unit/organization.  PDI is truly a great opportunity for networking, training, collaboration, achieving certification points, and staying current on events impacting the comptroller career fields (plus, it’s a ton of fun!)

ASMC HQ recently conducted another essay competition across its member base in support of the association’s 75th birthday/jubilee celebration. The theme was to describe what life, and ASMC, will be like in another 50 years.

The Yankee Chapter is proud to announce that our member Paul O’Connor won the Meritorious Award for his essay submission.

Paul and our Executive Team were recognized in ASMC’s Armed Forces Comptroller magazine which is a subscription held by all 13,000+ members of ASMC.
