Registration is now open for SDFM’s Defense Financial Management Institute (DMFI) Orlando event and we wanted to provide some background info. As a reminder, these regional DFMI events have replaced the annual SDFM National PDI.

DFMI Orlando will take place May 27-28, 2026 at the Mariott World Center Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando, FL. The agenda is available online (link here) and includes Service-specific sessions during the first half of Wednesday 27 May, followed by breakout sessions and various networking opportunities across two days. The official theme for DFMI Orlando is “Mission‑Ready FM — Aligning People, Policy, and Technology for Measurable Outcomes.”
DFMIs are SDFM’s premier training events for all career fields related to Financial Management. The Yankee Chapter encourages participation to the maximum extent allowed by your unit/organization. If you cannot attend in person, there is an “All Access” registration option which allows you to view videos of any session on-demand following the event (not “live” but still worth CET/CLP/CPE credits). For units/organizations prioritizing attendance approvals, the Yankee Chapter recommends giving preference to SDFM members first, along with members who require training points to meet near-term certification deadlines. DFMI is a great opportunity for networking, training, collaboration, achieving certification points, and staying current on events impacting the FM career fields.
